In the postwar years, the company became one of Florida’s largest housing developers, building more than 10,000 homes in Miami-Dade and Broward counties between 1945 and 1954. By the mid-1950s, Mackle had reached national scale. House and Home ranked it the No. 9 homebuilder in the U.S. in 1955, and sources cited on the company site state it rose to No. 1 with 2,023 homes in 1956 and 2,504 housing starts in 1958. The firm also helped found General Development, where Mackle-led communities included Port Charlotte, Port St. Lucie, Palm Bay, Sebastian Highlands, and Vero Beach Highlands. Today, The Mackle Company operates as a private investment and development business focused on commercial and residential real estate, rental income properties, and land investments in Florida, including a medical arts building in South Miami completed in 2022
