Lutheran Development Group (LDG) was conceived in 2013 and formalized as a service-organization of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, with a founding mission to connect Lutheran congregations to urban neighborhood redevelopment in St. Louis, Missouri. LDG operates a small team (listed as 11-50 employees) focused on real-estate and community revitalization. Their real-estate work centers on affordable housing, single-family home rehabilitation, multi-unit residential renovation and new construction in urban neighborhoods, especially in partnership with congregations and community organizations. In recent years LDG completed major projects including an $11.7 million renovation comprising 12 buildings and 47 apartments and other multi-building acquisitions of 18 properties yielding 59 affordable units. Their focus remains on investment in urban neighborhoods of St. Louis, targeting blighted properties, affordable housing and mixed-use community-support developments.
